Research Interests
Dr. Kathleen (Kelly) Rein is a bioorganic and natural products chemist with a particular interest in algal toxins, their biosynthesis, metabolism, pharmacology, fate in the environment and endogenous function. These may be cyanobacterial toxins such as the hepatotoxic microcystins or marine dinoflagellate toxins such as the brevetoxins from the Florida Red Tide organism Karenia brevis.
